The Kanji or symbol for Reiki

This page is meant mostly for the Reiki Practitioner but may be useful for others already familiar with Reiki. If you are new to the site and Reiki, I recommend starting with the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section, as it gives introductory answers to the most common questions with links to more expansive information. However, there are a few pages that I would like to bring to the attention of other practitioners and those seeking more detailed information on Reiki. I have placed links to these pages below, along with a general description of the content of the page.

Please remember that these are solely my opinions and thoughts. I do not claim to be an "expert" on any of these subjects. I have definite opinions on them, but I do not presume to know everything there is to know. I am constantly learning - as I think anyone practicing Reiki should be. I incorporate these subjects into my classes and hope only to inspire thought and perhaps discussion about these topics.

Questions from Reiki Practitioners
A page devoted to the questions submitted by practitioners, and the corresponding responses.

Comments from Reiki Intuitive Students
Commentary from students of Reiki Intuitive.

The Meaning of the Word "Reiki"
A discussion of the meaning and nuances behind the word that is so hard to translate.

Absentee or Remote Healing
A general overview of Absentee healing, a discussion of the two most common questions regarding remote work, and a link to a free remote healing network.

The Five Principles
A discussion of the five principles, including an alternate translation of the Japanese.

Reiki and Spirituality
Reiki is not a religion. Then spiritually speaking, what is it? And does Faith of some sort aid - or perhaps hinder - your practice?

The History of Reiki - A new perspective
Recently, information has come to light that may give us new insight into Mikao Usui and the history of Reiki. I have included here the full history of Reiki as I teach it, starting with the traditional Western history and adding commentary about the recent research.

Reiki Debates
There are currently several debates within the Reiki community about lineage, trademarks, the "validity" of certain styles, schools, etc. A brief discussion of the current subjects under debate, and my take on them.

Reiki Ethics
Reiki Intuitive's page on the ethics of Reiki. Since Reiki is a self-monitored practice, I have posted my personal ethics here - and share them with my classes. I encourage all Reiki Practitioners to likewise make their ethical standards public knowledge.

The Chakras
For most systems of Reiki, understanding the chakras is an integral part of the healing process for a practitioner. These are my informational pages, including the location, color, pitch, period of development, mental/emotional issues, traits when off-balanced, corresponding organs, and foods associated with each chakra.

Grounding Techniques
Often our clients may be lightheaded after a Reiki session. Likewise, we may have a hard time staying present in our bodies during our own work and meditation. Grounding is the process of re-orienting ourselves to our physical bodies. This page provides some example grounding techniques.

Meditation
Reiki is not a meditative technique. However, meditation is a lovely compliment to any alternative medicine, and I highly recommend daily meditation for everyone as a means of stress reduction and personal growth. This is especially true of the Reiki Practitioner. Here are a few simple tips for the beginner on basic (non-guided) meditation.
